Van has been suffering from kidney failure for 15 years. No one believed she could make it. It is somehow like a life imprisonment. And death, even though it keeps cancelling on her, is still lingering all around. Because of her sickness, her family sold all their property to pay for medicines. She and her 73-year-old mom, both of whom cannot work, are clinging on a tiny amount of money from benefactors. Isolated, they live in a borrowed house and never know when the owner might stop giving them access.
